Making way for a baby…!

These lil creatures have a knack for coming along when you least expect it.

However some people find conceiving a struggle. So here’s some guidance from a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective on what can improve your general fertility health BEFORE you start trying for a baby.

Questions I often ask my patients include those about your current diet, contraception you have used/are using, how long you have been “trying”, other methods you have explored, if any fertility treatments have commenced and what your hopes are for pregnancy.

This gives me a starting point!

From there we look for signs of optimal fertility - I assess your blood via pulse diagnosis amongst other methods, I make an assessment on your current menstrual cycle, and we explore how both these things could be improved. This is INDIVIDUAL so it’s best to have your own consult to gain the benefits of what applies to you.

Tips as a general rule include

  • ensuring you eat breakfast, and I will give advice on this

  • basal body temperature tracking and again, I can provide advice and guidance on this

  • herbal formulas to improve blood, blood flow, menstrual cycle, clearing phlegm (if applicable) and regular acupuncture treatment based on your diagnosis

As a rule of thumb, I ask my patients to give their bodies THREE MONTHS of treatment and rebalancing under my care before actively trying for a baby. If it happens during that time, sweet!

However whatever underlying imbalances need addressing are best addressed - so you optimise your chances of a/ falling pregnant and b/maintaining a healthy pregnancy.

I have trained under the FertileLife Method which provides a fairly decisive protocol for fertility - however this is always used as a guide and adapted for your individual needs and goals.

Whether it’s a plan for IVF, you’ve tried to fall pregnant and haven’t had much luck, you have miscarried, or IVF hasn’t been successful, acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine could be a great adjunct to your healthcare regime.

If you’re unsure where to start, or want to move forwards with your plan to have a baby in the next 6-12 months, book an appointment with Dr. Rebecca Brook (ACUPUNCTURIST) today - let’s get you fertile!!!
